Beaker Creatures Liquid Reactor Super Lab – Review & Giveaway

I’ve spoken before about my love of funducation, there’s something about my children playing an educational game that makes me feel a little less of rubbish mum. No, I’m not making them play a game to get them from under my feet, I’m actually TEACHING them. In a fashion.

Following that train of thought, I jumped at the chance to review a Beaker Creatures   Liquid Reactor Super Lab from Learning Resources.

Aoife likes anything hands on and science-y, Seth likes making a mess – it was the perfect joint venture for them.

What’s in the Super Lab?

• 15-piece lab set includes:
  • Two Beaker Creature Reactor Pods
  • Two Classification Cards
  • Two double-sided Mini-posters featuring amazing science facts and fun images
  • Two Hydroplungers
  • Two Beakers
  • Liquid Reactor Super Lab base
  • A set of tongs and a stir rod
  • Experiment guide featuring step-by-step instructions for five experiments
  • Full-size poster for display

Setting up the Super Lab is pretty simple, a child could manage it but it’s a lot quicker for a grown up to do it.
Just click the beaker into place, snap the plungers on, fill the beakers with water and you’re good to go!

How to Super Lab

In theory, liberating your Beaker Creature is a piece of cake – pop the reactor pod in the beaker with the tongs (or your hand), fill the plungers with water, plunge the water into the beaker and watch as the pod fizzes to reveal your new favourite collectable.

As you can see from our action packed video – filling the plunger, locking it in and even pushing it proved a BIT of a challenge for Seth but we got there in the end.

Once your Beaker Creature is free, you can check the poster to see which one you won!

The Super Lab comes with two reactor pods (one for each child – perfect) but the instructions also include another four experiments you can do with the equipment. Bear in mind the extra ingredients you need are not included in the set but a lot of it you will have lying around your house.

I was actually really impressed with this set and the kids LOVED it.

We decided to film the process to see how simple it really is to use, not only will you get an idea of how it works, you will also get a rendition of Feliz Navidad! What more could you want?
